The candidate will be responsible for helping to develop and implement the Disaster Project. Building upon the considerable groundwork already laid by staff, will help build the project to full scale, with a focus primarily on outreach and intake to disaster survivors. Providing support and assistance to Project staff and other attorneys as they offer free legal advice, brief service, extended representation, and referrals to disaster victims. Conducting regular remote outreach activities in and around affected communities. Conducting initial client screening and/or intake, including entry of case management information, assessment of financial eligibility and conflict status, and formulating the nature of the client’s legal problem(s). Serving as a point person for disaster relief efforts, including attending regular disaster-related meetings throughout the communities. Maintaining information about disaster relief resources. Performing tasks related to the provision of legal services to clients under the direction and supervision of a licensed attorney. Assisting the managing attorney in overseeing and ensuring compliance with regulations and grant requirements, including reporting. Monitoring and developing outreach materials. Assisting in the orientation and training of new Disaster Project staff and volunteers. Working with other agencies to help clients with referrals to **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***. and partner agencies for appropriate legal services. Providing support to staff and volunteer attorneys, including helping with clerical work (scanning, copying, typing, filing, processing incoming and outgoing mail, etc.). Assisting in the management of case management systems. Performing other tasks as assigned by supervisor.

Qualification and Experience

Qualifications: Must have an associate’s or bachelor’s degree, or equivalent paralegal experience. A paralegal degree, equivalent coursework, or recent work experience as a paralegal is preferred.
