Attorney IV The candidate provides legal assistance on legal rights, obligations, and privileges to Department of Education personnel. Provides legal services, such as researching state and federal laws, writing memorandum, reviewing legislation, and drafting new or amended rules or regulations. Assists with special education and other federal grant programs. Provides recommendations and advice on the legal implications of current and/or amended business processes. Interacts professionally with Department staff and other public officials to resolve conflicts and controversies in a broad range of subjects. Prepares and review contracts. Assists with responses to Open Records requests and provide guidance on Open Meeting issues. A JD degree from an accredited college or university and license to practice law in the State of Georgia; or eligibility to sit for the next Georgia Bar examination or reciprocity; 3+ years of relevant legal experience is needed. Experience working with state and/or federal governmental entities is needed. Experience working with public educational agencies is needed. Licensure to practice law in Georgia is needed.
