Lobbying / Political Compliance Senior Associate The candidate will use subject matter knowledge to act as the initial or secondary point of contact for client engagement and other firm internal teams. Will provide research and analysis across one or more RM functions or processes. Interpret relevant regulatory requirements, policies and processes, determine required actions, and make recommendations based on the law, firm guidance and own experience. Analyze issues, and document the diligence with which tasks are performed, to help meet the demands of external regulators. Gain knowledge of US lobbying/political/government gift laws and compliance matters as well as other regulatory compliance matters affecting a global professional services firm. Identify key issues and risks in the RM function or process, by comparing law, facts and circumstances to current EY policies. Review, research, and update lobbying/political /government gifts compliance reference materials including legal outlines, charts, executive summaries, FAQ documents, etc. Serve as project manager for gifts tracking compliance program. Liaise with outside counsel, the client teams, other members of the RM team, and various functional areas within the firm (e.g., Center for Business Knowledge, Finance, and Strategic Sourcing). Regularly exercise independent decision-making skills within the framework of the RM/Office of Ethics, Compliance & Data Protection policies and processes. Guide internal client teams on issues of moderate complexity. Understand complex, non-routine questions from client teams, and coordinate appropriate responses through consultation. Recommend improvements, and/or develop new approaches or deliverables, by utilizing knowledge of existing RM processes, and business experience. Review and analyze reports, to identify variances or trends that should be brought to the attention of management. Maintain and expand knowledge of area of expertise, and communicate new developments and resulting impact to clients and team members. Develop relationships, and build a network of people within the team and across the firm. Apply judgment to consultations and/or submission reviews. Develop a solid understanding of relevant firm business. Should have a J.D. degree. Must have 1+ year of exposure to government regulatory compliance, preferably lobbying, campaign finance or government gifts and ethics ex. Lobbying reporting, Political Action Committee (PAC) reporting.
