Medical Assisting Instructor Duties: Instruct classes as scheduled in the time allotted; not to exceed 31 contact hours per week. Follow the recommended course schedule to complete terminal performance objectives. Maintain current syllabi of courses taught according to present standards. The syllabus should be approved by the Program Director prior to the beginning of the term and issued to students at the first class meeting. Maintain and publish office hours for student contact. Turn in daily attendance records by the end of classes each day. Keep records of each studentâ€™s progress in each course taught and turn in grade reports when they are due. Actively follow up on attendance and academic problems to facilitate improvement of student and success retention by keeping the Program Director informed of any student, class or academic issues. Participate in the curriculum committee as needed. Provide input on course improvements and curriculum. Produce and maintain reports as required. Attend meetings as scheduled. Attend and participate in school functions. File, complete and document a professional development plan.
Qualification and Experience
Qualifications: Masterâ€™s degree in the assigned field based on their major. Business classes â€“ Hold a masterâ€™s degree in Business Administration. All other classes â€“ Hold a masterâ€™s degree in their assigned field. Associate courses Occupational classes â€“ Hold a bachelorâ€™s degree appropriate to the subject taught except for those subjects in which a bachelorâ€™s degree is not generally available. Academic Associates degree or AA degree (Paralegal program) â€“ In general, a masterâ€™s degree is required for the assigned field based on their major or minor academic preparations. At a minimum the faculty member must have earned 18 semester hours or the equivalent in the discipline. Diploma or Non-Degree courses General Education classes â€“ Hold a masterâ€™s degree in the assigned field; or a masterâ€™s degree with at least 18 semester credit hours in the discipline. All other classes â€“ Must have demonstrated competency in the assigned field such as experience, vocational training, licensure or certification. Education and experience qualifications must first be approved by the VP of Academic Affairs and any other applicable state regulatory bodies. Able to demonstrate teaching skills and effectively teach adult learners. Able to schedule and teach classes in the time allotted. Will be required to interact in a professional and effective manner with students, co-workers and vendors. Must be able to multi-task and complete tasks in a timely manner. Able to communicate effectively verbally and in written form. Proficiency with software including Outlook, Microsoft Word and Excel preferred.
