Intellectual Property Legal Assistant Responsibilities: Daily maintenance and overall operation of patent prosecution for assigned attorneys. Integrating new files and records in the client/matter database. Processing incoming mail/emails/faxes from clients, foreign associates and intergovernmental agencies worldwide.

Qualification and Experience

Qualifications: 3 years' experience working in intellectual property legal environment as an assistant or paralegal. Superior organizational skills and attention to detail. Effective in managing multiple duties adhering to strict deadlines and maintaining quality control standards. Proficient in Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and ability to quickly learn all software programs specific to IP docketing. Familiarity with Pattsy docketing system a plus. Commitment to keeping abreast of changes in PTO rules and procedures. Ability to share his/her knowledge with others. Ability to collaborate in an effective and mature manner with attorneys, clients, co-workers and administrators. Flexibility to respond quickly and positively to shifting demands and opportunities; ability to work under tight deadlines and handle multiple, detailed tasks.

Pros : It is a small firm which allows you to build relationships with all of your colleagues. You won't find these relationships as much in bigger firms.
Cons : Since it is a smaller firm, there isn't much room for movement to higher positions. The money could be higher as well.
