Paralegal Duties: Perform substantive billable legal work under the direction of one or more attorneys in the office. Perform their duties under the direction of the one or more attorneys to whom they may be assigned. Meeting and interview clients to obtain necessary information to draft pleadings (including summons, petition, response, proposed temporary and final orders, motions, declarations, decrees, findings, etc.) Create, organize and maintain client files and case portals. Process and calendar domestic case schedule orders; Manage case deadlines. Gather information from witnesses via personal or telephone interview. Schedule hearings; assist attorney with hearing preparation; assist attorney at hearings and or trial, as needed. Distribute of information regarding mandatory parenting seminar completion. Draft correspondence to clients, courts and attorneys. Arrange for service of process. Analyze income and expense information received from clients; obtain appraisers for real, business and personal property; preparing child support worksheets and calculations and assist in all phases of income assignments. Keep informed of and current with state and local court rules. Maintain and keep current the firm’s dual-entry calendar system; track and tickle upcoming deadlines and hearing dates, manage case deadlines an ensure that deadlines are met. Draft discovery requests and responses; assist clients in gathering documents and information to complete discovery responses; track and organize discovered and produced materials. Create, maintain, archive, scan and retrieve files. We try to be as paperless as possible, and your experience and attention to detail in this regard is important.

Qualification and Experience

Qualifications: 2+ years of previous law office experience and must be familiar with and capable of using Microsoft Word and Excel and FamilySoft. Experience as a legal secretary or legal assistant is especially pertinent, and candidates with this background will be given preference. Must be able to type a minimum of fifty wpm with some 10-key experience. Must be self-starters who are able to multi-task, problem-solve and work well in a fast-paced environment. Must be efficient, organized, detail-oriented and computer proficient.
