Paralegal, Reproductive Freedom Project The candidate will provide duties include: Track state legislation relating to reproductive health care. Respond to requests for information about state bills and other matters from ACLU affiliates and other partners. Compile media coverage of reproductive health, rights and justice on a daily basis. Monitor breaking news related to priority legislation, including on social media. Format, cite check, and file litigation documents in federal and state courts around the United States. Manage litigation documents including exhibits, discovery requests, deposition transcripts, and briefs. Help maintain databases, case files, and binders, including archiving documents in accordance with ACLU archiving policies, where appropriate. Provide other litigation support. Assist staff in assembling and preparing information, including multimedia presentations for conferences, media, etc. Prepare updates for RFP information on ACLU website. Act as liaison between staff attorneys and legal administrative assistants to disseminate work assigned by attorneys and provide routine and/or procedural guidance regarding work assignments. Provide administrative support for manager review of applications for legal administrative assistant and intern positions. Work jointly with interns and communicate routine and/or procedural guidance on projects assigned by managers. Perform other job related special projects and other duties as assigned by the Project Attorneys. Qualification and Experience
The candidate must have a Bachelor’s degree. Have 1+ year of legal assistant or paralegal experience is preferred. Must have excellent word-processing and computer skills in Windows 7 environment. Must be proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint. Must have strong internet research skills. Must be well organized, efficient, highly motivated, and able to handle multiple tasks at once, work well under pressure, and take initiative. Must have strong writing, verbal and interpersonal skills, superb attention to detail and excellent phone manner. Must have ability to work independently as well as within a team. Commitment to civil liberties, reproductive rights, and public interest legal work is essential.
