Corporate Counsel The candidate will counsel business, product, and engineering teams developing new products, from concept to release, to ensure legal compliance and to make Edmodoâ€™s technology platform an even more powerful tool for teachers, students, and parents all over the world. Will advise company leadership on legal risks and business strategies related to all aspects of the business. Negotiate, review, and draft a wide variety of agreements, including complex business and strategic partnership agreements, vendor deals, contracts with school districts, leases, and license agreements. Ensure compliance with relevant U.S. and international regulations and statutes, especially concerning privacy issues involving schools and children. Maintain Edmodoâ€™s position as a leading and trusted voice on privacy and policy issues related to the use of educational technology tools in K-12 schools. Lead Edmodoâ€™s Trust and Safety Team, which serves as the voice of our users, to ensure that new products are consistent with Edmodoâ€™s goal of providing safe, secure, and privacy-protective tools for our users. Work with companyâ€™s General Counsel and legal team to provide additional legal support for the broader Elernity global legal and business needs. Must have experience drafting and negotiating complex commercial contracts, with an emphasis on technology-based agreements related to data privacy, marketing, software licensing, and partnership agreements. Should have familiarity with privacy issues, including privacy regulations and best practices for companies, and ability to design and implement privacy-focused legal and business strategies. Must have Juris Doctor, admitted to any state bar. Should have 5-7 years legal experience preferably with some of the experience coming from an in-house legal department. Prior in-house experience a bonus.
