Chief Counsel (Court Executive 3B)
The candidate will direct the operations and staff of the Office of Board Counsel (OBC), which provides legal counsel to and administrative support for the Board in its work as the intermediate appellate level of the attorney disciplinary system under the Supreme Court of this state. Will manage OBC case processing and substantive legal preparation of attorney discipline cases and ethics and fee arbitration appeals for presentation to the Board. Develop and prepare reports to the Supreme Court, the Board, and the Disciplinary Oversight Committee. Oversee all technology related activities of the OBC. Ensure that OBC staff operates effectively and efficiently in the drafting of legal memoranda and final decisions. Schedule oral arguments and Board deliberative sessions. Coordinate with the Clerk of the Supreme Court and the leadership of the attorney disciplinary system to develop and implement policies related to the regulation of attorneys under the authority of the Court. Maintain significant contact with Board members, the Disciplinary Oversight Committee, the Office of Attorney Ethics, disciplinary respondents and their counsel, and members of the public, as well as Supreme Court standing committees (e.g., the Professional Responsibility Rules Committee).

Qualification and Experience

The candidate should have a Graduation from an American Bar Association-approved law school and 8 years of managerial experience, which shall have included responsibility for the management of budgets and administrative operations; development and implementation of programs, policies and procedures; the practice of law as an attorney; and 5 years of supervision of professional staff. Should have experience with strong leadership, legal, and management skills. Attorney-at-Law with a plenary license in the State of New Jersey and having Supreme Court Good Standing Status of Active essential.
