Profile

Paralegal Duties: Review and prepare family law pleadings. Perform legal and factual research. Identify relevant judicial decisions, statutes, legal articles, & codes. Organize and track case files. Prepare evidence packets for use at hearings, trials, draft legal documents, prepare evidence summaries, and handle discovery requests and responses to discovery requests, help with trial preparation including witness lists, exhibits and trial binders. High competency regarding the family law litigation process. Work with attorneys on family law court documents, discovery, and research. Calendaring. Prepare and draft legal divorce documents on behalf of clients. Family law litigation trial preparation. Mediation preparation. Check and edit legal forms and documents for accuracy. Perform administrative functions related to paralegal duties. Maintain client files. Draft correspondence. E-filing. Ensures all deadlines are met for client cases and supports the attorney internal deadlines set for completed documents by assisting in drafting and such.

Qualification and Experience

Candidate must have Paralegal certificate with 5+ years of experience in family law experience with drafting petitions/final orders, divorce decrees, motion practice, e‑filing, handling exhibits at hearings and discovery, coordinate mediations with a mediator, opposing counsel and prepare mediation packets. Must have effective communication skills, experience drafting pleadings, experience with various software programs such as word, excel, mycase, and be able to think on their feet. Familiar with family courts in Dallas, Collin, Denton, Fort Worth, and surrounding counties. Detail oriented, able to multi-task, and organized. Knowledge of the Texas family code, Family law practice manual, high volume drafting, creating/utilizing spreadsheets, clear written and oral communication skills, Strong case and time management skills. Strong interpersonal and client management skills.
