We’re seeking a Director, Deputy General Counsel - Product Privacy to serve as a strategist and critical thought-partner to our product development teams across the Company in their day-to-day efforts to create the next generation of financial platforms, tools, and services. Reporting directly to the Chief Privacy Officer, this lawyer will own Intuit’s strategic data-driven priorities related to driving product innovation while enhancing customer trust and brand equity. The ideal candidate will have a technology background, true fluency in the legal and practical components of data protection as applied to the product lifecycle gleaned from considerable experience at a major law firm or public company, and a demonstrable history of solving complex, time-sensitive problems in close partnership with a variety of cross-functional stakeholders. The selected candidate will be a senior leader on the Data Privacy team within Intuit’s world-class Legal & Compliance Organization, and manage a team of supporting privacy professionals. You will also work closely with technical and non-technical teams including Product, Marketing, Engineering and Security to ensure that privacy is embedded into Intuit’s products and processes by design.

Qualification and Experience 10+ years of experience practicing privacy and data protection law in-house or at a top firm. Strong working knowledge of relevant global privacy and data security laws, rules, and regulations, e.g., CCPA as amended by the CPRA; VCDPA; FTC Act/Section 5; GLBA; FCRA; state biometric privacy laws; GDPR; PIPEDA and others. The ability to communicate and advance the Data Privacy team’s strategic vision across the company and to external audiences Coordinate cross-functionally, and with outside counsel in domestic and international markets, on issues related to data privacy, product design and functionality, transactional issues, and other technology initiatives. Experience drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts, with a specific focus on privacy issues that arise in a wide variety of commercial transactions. Ability to engage in detailed analysis of data-driven products to understand and assess global privacy and other legal risks. Proven ability to translate complex legal requirements into forward-looking and actionable policies, frameworks and guidelines. Commitment to diversity, self-awareness, empathy and intellectual curiosity. Proven ability to mentor and develop talent, creating an atmosphere of team trust and support. Eligible to practice law where located and to obtain any multi-jurisdictional license required to support in-house practice in California or state where role is ultimately located.
