Director, Legal Counsel
The candidate will provide guidance to human resources and business teams regarding employment-related issues, including leaves of absences, severance, benefits, wage and hour, and talent acquisition. Identify and implement new and updated federal and state employment laws and regulations that impact the business. Manage and coordinate responses to government audits on employment and labor-related matters, including OFCCP, DOL, and EEOC. Drive internal investigations regarding compliance with legal requirements, company policies, and its Code of Business Ethics. Manage a diverse range of pre-litigation, litigation and regulatory proceedings, including alternative dispute resolution, development of case strategy, facilitation of discovery responses, and cost control. Should have a J.D. degree from an ABA-accredited law school. Should have 5+ years of experience in employment matters and counseling. Prior in-house legal counsel experience preferred. Work both collaboratively and independently. Strong ability to multitask and work in fast-paced, demanding environment. Licensed to practice law in Illinois (or immediate ability to become licensed).
