Project Assistant - Intellectual Property Litigation RESPONSIBILITIES: Works with attorneys and legal assistants on client billable projects meeting the Firm’s minimum hours’ expectations. Prepares, updates, and maintains document indices, coding in database management, basic research, organization of files, compilations of exhibits, proofreading and document retrieval from outside sources (Internet, libraries, courts and agencies). Actively develops case management, cite-checking and research skills. The firm requires work to be performed onsite during scheduled work hours. Other duties as may be assigned by attorneys and/or the Director of Legal & Practice Support.

Qualification and Experience

QUALIFICATIONS: Four-year degree with minimum 3.0 GPA and major in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biochemistry, and other related majors required. Preferred paralegal certificate and/or relevant legal experience. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Strong organizational, time-management, and problem-solving skills. Proficient in the use of office productivity applications (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Adobe Acrobat), aptitude for learning new software strongly preferred. Strong attention to detail. Experienced in proofreading documents for grammar and spelling errors. Ability to manage shifting priorities, competing deadlines, and work in a team environment. Demonstrate a positive attitude and be able to build strong interpersonal relationships.

The firm needs to strike a balance with the workload present here. At the time it was difficult to balance work and outside of work activities because of the demanding atmosphere that is present at this firm.

Pros : This is a large firm filled with many wonderful people. I've had the pleasure of working with great colleagues and behind us a great staff that challenged us every step of the way. The firm prides itself on delivering excellence and helped me advanced within my career greatly. It was an amazing experience working here.
Cons : This is a large firm with many great attorneys working here. At times it can become difficult managing your workload. Miscommunication leaves you lost. When things are in order work hours are long and exhausting. Much is expected of the team here to keep up with the tremendous workload.
