Profile

Director of Technical Support Services The candidate will be maintaining and augmenting existing, and developing new, tools, parameters, and guidelines for DEM engineers to utilize in evaluating applications for competitive and non-competitive funding programs. Carrying out technical grant application evaluations, and reviewing technical evaluations of other staff. Creating and maintaining standard specifications incorporating industry best practices to ensure high efficiency building systems are being designed and procured. Helping to enforce requirements stemming from local laws and codes. Providing recommendations on selecting energy efficiency measures and project implementation mechanisms. Developing cost abatement resources to incorporate into energy efficiency measure analyses and creating cost reference documents. Participating in technical working groups to inform policies impacting energy targets. Overseeing the preparation and review of energy audits, energy modeling studies, carbon master plans, retrofit project designs, operations and maintenance plans, measurement and verification plans and other engineering-related documents for accuracy and completeness.

Qualification and Experience

The candidate must have baccalaureate degree from an accredited college in engineering, architecture, landscape architecture, business administration, or public administration, and 5+ years of full-time satisfactory experience in the planning, administering or expediting of engineering design, and/or construction, or coordinating a very large engineering project, 2+ years of which must have been in an administrative, managerial, executive or supervisory capacity; or A four year high school diploma or its educational equivalent and nine years of experience as described in "1" above; two years of which must have been in an administrative, managerial, executive or supervisory capacity; or Education and/or experience equivalent to "1" or "2" above. An accredited Master's degree in one of the disciplines described in "1" above, a law degree, or a valid New York State license as a Professional Engineer or Registered Architect or Landscape Architect may be substituted for one year of the required experience. Experience in the design, construction, operation and maintenance of energy efficiency projects and programs that have delivered verified savings and particular experience in conducting and/or coordinating energy audits, energy studies, and in construction management is preferred. Knowledge of the design, construction and operation of HVAC systems and controls, computerized building automation and energy management systems, variable air volume (VAV) distribution systems, and overall heating and cooling system performance metrics is desired. Comprehensive energy conservation project management knowledge and experience, as well as close attention to detail and accuracy, and the ability to see the big picture and make appropriate recommendations is a plus. High level of proficiency in Microsoft Excel is needed.
