Criminal Law - Prosecution
Associate Attorney - Criminal Defense Candidate will handle full range of tasks commensurate with representing clients from the public: legal research, drafting legal documents, correspondence and communication with clients and court staff, time-keeping, filing, attending hearings, trial preparation, handling discovery, and assisting clients throughout the process. Efficient management of multiple cases. Timely preparation of pleadings, discovery and all documents related to associate’s case load. Attendance of mediations and hearings as required. Client interaction and problem resolution as it relates to case hearings. Integration of best practices and standards in handling clients and their cases. Client communication and advice as it relates to business transactions, litigation risks and outcomes, and legal rights and obligations. Evaluation of findings and development of strategies and arguments in preparation for presentation of cases. Development of new clients though firm promotion. Maintain relationships with existing clients. Commitment to continued education/learning outside of client-related billable work, by reading books, periodicals, attending CLEs, etc. Research applicable to assigned cases. On-time completion of projects and accurate recording of time activities.
Qualification and Experience
Qualifications: Ability to comprehend complex matters, to identify and to articulate core issues, and to understand applicable legal principles. Demonstrate exceptional organization and time management skills. Possess keen-eye for detail, coupled with exceptional research and proofreading abilities. Thorough knowledge of the legal procedures and current developments. Working knowledge of computers, along with the ability to maintain, update and modify documents. Possess relevant technology competencies such as Westlaw, and time-billing software. Ability to work independently.
