Davis Wright Tremaine LLP, a leading AmLaw 100 law firm, is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Legal Assistant - Litigation to join our team at our Portland office. This is a unique opportunity to work with top attorneys in the litigation and employment practice groups while enjoying the flexibility of a hybrid work arrangement.

As a Legal Assistant - Litigation, you will provide critical support to three to four attorneys, including one whose primary practice is commercial litigation. In this role, you will be responsible for typing, editing, and formatting legal documents, filing documents with state and federal courts, communicating with clients and business contacts, and other tasks as assigned. This position also offers the opportunity to work on all stages of litigation and to support associates in their work.

Responsibilities:
- Type, proofread, format, and edit legal documents and correspondence
- File pleadings in state and federal courts in various venues
- Track litigation deadlines and ensure proper docketing
- Maintain paper and electronic files
- Draft correspondence and communicate with team and client contacts
- Schedule appointments, depositions, and meetings
- Enter attorney time into time-keeping program
- Answer and respond to phone calls
- Open new client matters and initiate conflict checks
- Triage, open, and route mail and email
- Provide overflow assistance and support for other Legal Assistant team members

Requirements:
- 4+ years' experience as a litigation assistant or similar role
- Strong word processing and computer skills, including typing at least 65 wpm and proficiency in MS Office Products and Adobe Acrobat
- Experience filing documents with state and federal courts
- Knowledge of court rules and ability to learn and understand individual judge's rules and practices
- High attention to detail and ability to handle confidential materials
- Ability to work independently and anticipate tasks
- Willingness to learn new electronic programs
- Excellent grammar, proofreading, and organizational skills
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- High energy and ability to work at a fast pace
- Ability to work in a team-oriented and service-focused environment
- High school diploma or GED certification
