Legal Counsel - Diabetes Care The candidate: Provides proactive legal advice to clients within Roche Diagnostics. Primary responsibility involves all aspects of commercial and business law for at least one business unit. Minimize risk associated with the marketing, sales and service of at least one business unitâ€™s products within the United States and development and production of local and global products for at least one business, as applicable. Provides a â€œcross-businessâ€ practice perspective or industry perspective to Law Department and business unit management based on prior experience. Contributes to Law Department policy and position-setting based on cross-functional expertise and exposure to multiple aspects of Roche business. Provides full legal services to one or more departments or operating units. Deliver specialist legal advice and support to Roche Diabetes Care senior management and other business colleagues on commercial, procurement and IT matters (e.g., pricing and reimbursement of medical devices, healthcare fraud and bribery, FDA, distribution, data privacy and cybersecurity), advising and reporting on legal risks in the business programs as appropriate. Draft, review and negotiate a wide range of commercial contracts (e.g., sales, marketing, intellectual property and software licenses, e-commerce, procurement related to services and medical devices) and enhance contract templates, processes and strategies, thereby mitigating risks and ensuring the integrity of commercial contracts. Actively manage external legal counsel to ensure appropriate service and quality levels and contain costs. Continuously develop personal and professional skills. Train employees in contractual matters. Reports to the Assistant General Counsel in Indianapolis, Indiana. Should have Doctor of Jurisprudence from an ABA-accredited law school, licensed to practice law in one or more of the 50 states. Must have 5+ years of experience practicing law at a large- to medium-sized law firm or within a corporate law department; practice must include business transactions and contracting. Should have experience representing a company in a similar industry or experience representing multiple businesses within Roche Diagnostics.
