A law firm seeks a driven and experienced Labor and Employment Class Action Associate to join its team in San Diego, CA. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to a diverse and growing California practice. The ideal candidate will have 3-5 years of experience in employment litigation, particularly in defending wage and hour class actions. Experience in transactional employment work, including the drafting of employment agreements and providing counsel on employment law compliance, is highly valued.

Duties:

  • Represent clients in employment litigation matters, focusing on wage and hour class action lawsuits.
  • Draft and negotiate employment contracts, severance agreements, and other related legal documents.
  • Prepare and file responses to EEOC position statements and DFEH inquiries.
  • Conduct witness interviews and depositions as part of litigation preparation.
  • Collaborate with clients to ensure compliance with federal and state employment laws.
  • Advise clients on workplace policies, employment training, and other labor-related matters.
  • Provide legal counsel in traditional management labor relations, when applicable.
  • Participate in case strategy development and trial preparation.
  • Work with a team of attorneys to manage a caseload, ensuring all deadlines and procedural requirements are met.

Requirements:

  • 3-5 years of experience in employment litigation, with a focus on class actions.
  • Experience with wage and hour claims and class action defense is preferred.
  • Expertise in drafting employment agreements, severance packages, and other key employment-related documents.
  • Strong background in conducting witness interviews, depositions, and managing discovery.
  • Knowledge of federal and state employment law compliance and workplace policy drafting.
  • Experience in traditional labor relations is a plus.
  • Superior academic credentials and writing skills.
  • Active membership in the California State Bar is required.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (.) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Admission to the California State Bar is required.

Skills:

  • Strong litigation and trial preparation skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Proficiency in drafting legal documents, including agreements and compliance reports.
  • Experience in managing complex cases and a high-volume caseload.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
