Legal Counsel Duties: Ensures that business risks are effectively managed through legal compliance, vendor relations, claims management, administrative procedures, activities and insurance. Will work under the direct supervision of a senior legal counsel and ensure that general business obligations relating to legal, regulatory, government, compliance and risk management are met within company philosophy, global guidelines and local requirements. Will include: Processing legal requests for effective performance and handling of legal matters. Reviewing proposed contracts, forms, legal documents and filings and making recommendations to reduce ambiguity, provide clarity and ensure legal compliance. Reviewing legal documents prior to execution. Assisting in developing strategies and responses to competitive infringements to brand, logo, designs, plans, intellectual property, copyrights and confidential information. Monitoring market activities and develops proactive approaches. Representing Company interests at hearings, claims proceedings and legal proceedings (personally or through legal counsel, as appropriate). Reviewing product safety/liability issues and working with regulators and legislators. Corporate housekeeping; i.e. minutes, resolutions, annual meetings, consents. Will research laws, regulations, guidelines court decisions, precedents and executive orders. Will analyze and assess impact on the Company, make recommendations to ensure compliance, and communicate with appropriate management. While in the role you will maintain awareness of best practice, business environment, legal environment, and risk assessment and mitigation techniques to ensure that strategies are implemented. Recommend adjustments to strategies and procedures based on expertise, and are responsible for evaluating company exposures and anticipating potential issues based on business plans and activities.
Qualification and Experience
Qualifications: JD Degree. 1-4 years' experience. Experience in corporate legal work, including product safety, digital privacy, intellectual property preferred. Multi-state, some international exposure helpful.
