Global Mobility & Immigration Specialist
Duties: Serve as subject matter expert and administer the company’s U.S. and global visa and immigration program and related issues. Assist in driving and coordinating communications between impacted foreign national employees, internal stakeholders (including HR Shared Services, Talent Acquisition, Legal, HR Managers, Managers, etc) and vendors. Liaise with outside immigration counsel to track and report on impacted foreign national population and to keep abreast of immigration developments impacting the company. Undertake special projects as needed. Serve as point of contact for day-to-day questions regarding immigration cases and processes from internal stakeholders (foreign nationals, HR, Legal and managers); Monitor and track status and expirations of impacted foreign national population and participate in regular status conferences with outside counsel; Communicate with and follow up with stakeholders to secure information and documentation needed by outside counsel to complete cases; Serve as change leader to ensure businesses receive creative, yet compliant, immigration solutions on corporate restructures, role changes, mergers & acquisitions and alternate filing strategies; Review and approve visa petitions and applications prepared by outside counsel; Prepare travel and employment verification letters; Assist in managing stakeholders’ expectations regarding immigration processes (timeline, cost and likelihood of success); Coordinate payment of invoices from third-party vendors; Update outside counsel on company issues impacting immigration processes (changes to roles or job locations of impacted foreign nationals, terminations, or corporate reorganizations); Assist with immigration-related compliance and recordkeeping, and conduct or authorize regular audits to ensure compliance; Drive immigration compliance in onboarding of foreign national employees; Participate in all government site visits; Educate managers and business partners on employee U.S. immigration concerns, strategies, and guidelines; Provide or organize immigration-related training as needed for internal stakeholders; Maintain database or repository of immigration process-related documents; Promote uniform immigration processes across all company divisions; Work with stakeholders (including legal and procurement) and manage outside immigration counsel and other external providers to ensure cost control and value from external providers.

Qualification and Experience

Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree and 3+ years’ experience of U.S. and global immigration experience, either within a law firm (such as a supervising paralegal or managing attorney with responsibility for immigration petition preparation/filings) or in-house in an organization with a significant volume of immigration-supported employees or in a recruiting or HR role with heavy U.S. immigration involvement. Preferred: Master’s degree in related field 5+ years of high-volume business immigration experience with heavy emphasis on program management, continuous improvement, or case management or project management Ability to work proactively and independently; Strong organizational skills including Excel; Ability to multitask, prioritize work and manage multiple priorities; Strong interpersonal, communication and customer service skills; Ability to handle confidential situations with sensitivity and integrity; Strong problem-solving skills; Baseline knowledge of immigration law requirements and processes. Experience identifying and resolving complex issues, assuming leadership roles in unfamiliar or ambiguous circumstances – solid sense of accountability and sound personal judgment. Excellent written and verbal communications - ability to interface with all levels of the organization.
