Patent Legal Assistant The candidate will be reviewing and docketing in Patent Database data and deadlines associated with US official actions and correspondence based on extensive knowledge of US patent laws and in compliance with USPTOâ€™s eOffice Action Program. Will be reviewing and docketing in Patent Database data and deadlines associated with global patent correspondence based on extensive knowledge of global patent laws. Managing new Invention Record submission process; creating all new IR records in Patent Database and Document Management System. Reporting new submissions to inventors and business partners. Obtaining and documenting electronic files with copies of issued US office actions, correspondence, and patents. Patent Finance Management. Act as liaison between Legal Finance and Patent Department in management of Patent Budget. Obtain and monitor monthly/quarterly/yearly patent spend data of foreign and US outside counsel by Country, Division, and Category. Closely monitor and report on annual cost savings and cost-savings initiatives. Closely monitor and report on Patent Department NVO spend. Reconcile all Patent Department spend discrepancies with Legal and Division finance as needed. Prepare financial reports, spreadsheets, and presentations as necessary. Associate or Bachelorâ€™s degree is needed. Paralegal certification is needed. Should have 2-3 years of experience. Should have 1+ year of patent. Proficiency using Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint is preferred. Corporate Patent Department experience is needed. Experience using Patent Docketing Systems (preferably CPi) is essential. Experience using Document Management Systems and eBilling Systems(preferably TyMetrix) Colgate Functional and Leadership Competencies.
