The candidate will provide pragmatic legal advice and counseling regarding issues and inquiries pertaining to employment and labor practices and strategies for avoiding liability exposure, including those related to HR practices, performance management, recruiting, hiring, leaves of absence, employee accommodations, compensation and benefits, and wage and hour matters. Will monitor, research, analyze, and interpret relevant state and federal laws and regulations including state labor codes, Title VII, ADA, FLSA, CFRA, and FMLA. Assist clients with investigations, terminations, and disciplinary actions. Review, revise, and draft appropriate workplace policies, procedures, and employee handbooks. Review and analyze clients? operations and documents to advise on compliance issues. Assist clients with wage and hour practices to ensure compliance with the FLSA and California Labor Code, including exempt/non-exempt classification, worker/independent contractor classification, and timekeeping and payroll practices. Draft formal and informal correspondence and memoranda. Maintain direct interaction and effective communication with clients. Should have strong working knowledge of the federal and state labor and employment laws generally, both federal and state, including administrative rules, regulations, and policies. Must be licensed in California. An understanding of the financial services industry is preferred. Knowledge of Lexis Advance, Practical Law, PACER, and other research tools essential.
