Patent Associate (Chemistry)
Duties: Work on life science focused patent counseling, prosecution, and litigation practice. Conduct prior art database searches for patentability and freedom to operate analyses; analyze patent and scientific papers and documents to assist patent attorneys on patent prosecution, counseling, and litigation; draft patent applications and responses to office actions; and advise lawyers on technology issues in preparation for depositions.

Qualification and Experience

The candidate must be registered to practice before the U.S. Patent Office. 1-4 years of law firm experience and a Ph.D in organic chemistry or a related field. Must have superb technical, written and verbal communication skills in English. Broad scientific knowledge in biotechnology or related field is required. Individual must possess initiative, be a fast learner, work well with others as well as strong academic credentials from a nationally recognized law school.

The law office should step away from only focusing on attorneys and should also look into helping other staff. Also, there is a need for affordable benefits.

Pros : The law firm is composed of employees and staff which are respectful and very knowledgeable. The law firm is unique in the sense that they embrace a different type of work culture.
Cons : The law firm does a poor job of offering benefits to staff and employees which are affordable. The management team seems to focus more on staff that includes attorneys.
