Immigration Assistant The candidate works with clients to obtain documents and information necessary to prepare applications for multiple cases at a time (heavy case load up to 80+ simultaneously). Drafts support statements and organizes documentation for filling. Files and monitors applications and petitions with appropriate government agencies. Collaborate with manager and the legal team to facilitate cases and meet monthly filing goals. Performs research to obtain information such as background on a company or industry, current wages, processing procedures, stand processing times, etc. Demonstrate increasing levels of BAL’s service standards, procedures and documentation required for successful case filings to the appropriate government agency. Coordinates with clients to gather required information . Prepares letters and other documents on behalf of the employer and/or client. Provide information and assistance to clients regarding legal procedures (NOT legal advice). Update database(s) and utilize case preparation/management tools effectively and efficiently. Run reports to assist in managing own caseload. Photocopies, faxes and document scanning. Retrieve and/or return files. Other duties as assigned. Address envelops and package. Superb organizational skills are needed. Excellent English language skills, both spoken and written is needed. Associates degree or Paralegal Certificate is needed. Bachelor’s Degree with an emphasis in English, Journalism, Communication, etc., a plus. Strong attention to detail and accuracy is essential. Strong computer skills are needed. Exceptional customer service and interpersonal skills is needed. Prior immigration or legal experience with a high case-load, is a plus. Experience working in an office setting, is preferred.

Get it together and have a heart. Quit expecting people to worship the ground associate attorneys walk on. Also the free bagels on Thursdays are nice but come on.

Pros : Your coworkers who are working in the trenches with you are genuinely good people and look out for each other.
Cons : Associate attorneys lack managerial training and are only focused on the number of cases done per day regardless of how many cases (160+) you are working on and how burnt out you are becoming. Training is mediocre at best, obviously it makes it appear a great place to work. A word of guidance to anyone considering this position: if they’re hiring in December you will get thrown in at their most busy time of year and likely be let go after it.
