Intellectual Property - Patent General

Patent Paralegal Duties : Will oversee and manage the administration of patent portfolios, including extensive communication with in-house patent team members and clients (technical and business) throughout the patent lifecycle; prepare and file documents with the USPTO and WIPO; oversee the creation and maintenance of files; communicate with outside counsel and docket coordinators to ensure accurate tracking of all deadlines; generate portfolio reports; manage docket reports and lead docket meetings; compile information for patent portfolio reviews and maintenance fee/annuity payment decisions; correspond with vendors to request patent searches and process search results for attorney review. Prepare patent cost reports for annual patent team forecasts. Support attorneys with preparing, managing, and tracking IP agreements; assist in drafting IP agreements, amendments, and statements of work; monitor status and correspond with clients regarding execution and expiration. Create new matters in the appropriate patent docketing, matter management, or agreement tracking database; upload correspondence to the appropriate document management system; create, organize, and maintain electronic files for patent matters and agreements; and oversee document destruction according to the record retention policy.
Qualification and Experience
Requirements : The candidate should have 4+ years of experience providing patent legal support. Experience preparing and filing documents for US and PCT prosecution; familiarity with Foreign Patent Office procedures. Bachelor's degree or higher. Initiative to drive optimized work processes and organizational improvements through active collaboration with colleagues across all Koch patent teams. Hands-on experience with patent docketing and workflow systems (Memotech and First to File), document management systems and e-billing systems (SimpleLegal). Experience utilizing Excel or a similar software to generate patent cost reports, patent team forecasts or similar documentation. Experience with international patent procedures.
