Paralegal The candidate will be obtaining and organizing documents/information from clients and third parties as well as being familiar with entire file. Review file and perform all work required to create draft responses to all discovery. Serve final discovery responses and forward to clients for verification. Obtain documents from clients to respond to discovery and support liability and damages claims. Communicate with secretaries regarding upcoming due dates and deadlines, and be aware of responsible attorneys’ availability for finalizing responses. Order records such as medical records, medical bills, police reports, etc. Summarize medical records and bills. Under close guidance and supervision from attorney obtain lien information and provide notifications to all lien holders. Corporate searches for primary place of business. Obtain copies of articles/books from UCSF, SFGH, Stanford, online, etc. Organize and index medical records. Attend defense medical examinations. Upon settlement of a matter coordinate with secretaries working on the case, to contact all experts and vendors requesting that all outstanding invoicing be promptly emailed or faxed. Ensure that any last-minute costs are promptly approved, and Accounting are made aware to include such costs on the settlement statement. Must have 5+ years’ experience in personal injury/medical malpractice/product liability litigation. Should have paralegal certificate from ABA-approved school, some knowledge of medical terminology and records, and expertise in responding to and managing discovery. Bilingual (English/Spanish speaking) is required.
