Litigation Legal Assistant
The candidate will provide duties include: Types general correspondence, memorandum and complex legal documents according to the requirements set by each practice group. Transcribes dictation tapes (letters, memos of law, motions and briefs). Proofreads documents and checks for appropriate formatting, spelling and grammar. Prepares check requests for processing with appropriate backup and timely submission to accounting for payment. Types and coordinates expense reports. Enters and edits the attorney’s time into the timekeeping system within deadlines as required. Maintains attorney(s’) appointment calendar. Coordinates all client related travel. Maintains files in an efficient and effective manner. Prepares and updates attorney case lists. Receive, open, prioritize and distribute incoming mail. Prepare materials for distribution via U.S. mail, fax, courier, messenger, etc. Maintains confidentiality of client information in accordance with the firm policies. Interacts professionally with clients, attorneys, paralegals, secretaries, all other staff and other representatives outside of the firm.

Qualification and Experience

The candidate must have ability to handle pressure, interruptions and multiple projects with frequently changing priorities and deadlines. Must have 5-10+ years defense litigation which includes civil lit and personal injuries. Must have experience with E-file, calendaring and docketing deadline in Connecticut and New York. Must have the ability to type approximately 65-75 words per minute. Must have familiarity with electronic filing in Federal, Connecticut and New York State Court. Should be motivated with the goal of becoming a long term asset within the organization. Must have experience with E-file, calendaring and docketing deadlines. Must have billing experience. Must have exceptional organization skills. Must have positive attitude. Must have excellent typing skills. Must have ability to multitask. Must have ability to work in a fast-paced and challenging environment. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office programs.
