Bilingual Paralegal The candidate duties will include: General office organization, maintenance, and management; Purchasing and maintenance of office supplies; Opening, handling, and filing mail; Organization and maintenance of physical and electronic case files; Other administrative duties as needed; Taking phone calls and managing phone messages; Handling walk-ins; attending to clients and guests present in the office; Preliminary screening of prospective clients; Setting appointments for new and existing clients; Communicating with clients by phone, e-mail, letter, and in person; Other duties as needed; Information gathering and data collection from various sources; Interviewing clients and witnesses; Preparation of client declarations and statements; Preparation of forms and case documents; Acquisition and review of records from outside sources ( g. courts, medical providers, government agencies); Translation of documents to / from Spanish / English. General research and basic legal research. Accounts receivable, accounts payable, and cashiering.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate should have Bachelor's Degree or equivalent training / experience. Fluency in both English and Spanish (reading, writing, and conversation) is required. Must have Microsoft Word and Excel (PC platform): Intermediate /Advanced proficiency. Should have superior organization, time management, and prioritization skills. Preference given to those with the following skills: Previous experience as a legal assistant in an immigration-based practice; Familiarity with the following software and products: Google products, including Gmail, Calendar, Contacts, Chrome, Google Apps for Work, and related products Dropbox; Chaos Legal Billing; Stamps.com; Foxit Phantom PDF.
