Job Overview: A law firm in Chicago, IL, is seeking a Senior Patent Agent registered to practice before the . Patent and Trademark Office. The ideal candidate will possess extensive patent prosecution experience and a technical background in biological sciences or pharmaceutical sciences.

Duties:

• Conduct prior art searches for patentability and freedom to operate analyses
• Analyze patents and scientific papers to assist with patent preparation, prosecution, and counseling
• Manage patent portfolios and develop patent strategy
• Provide technical expertise in cellular biology, molecular biology, biochemistry, genetics, immunology, virology, chemistry, organic chemistry, pharmacy, or related fields
• Communicate effectively with clients, attorneys, and colleagues both verbally and in writing

Requirements:

• Registered to practice before the . Patent and Trademark Office
• 10+ years of patent prosecution experience
• . or . in cellular biology, molecular biology, biochemistry, genetics, immunology, virology, chemistry, organic chemistry, pharmacy, or related discipline preferred
• Broad technical knowledge in biological sciences and/or pharmaceutical sciences
• Experience in patent portfolio management and strategy development
