Assistant Vice President, Federal Tax The candidate will support the SVP and Director of Taxation Services in providing tax reporting services on a US GAAP and US Statutory basis. Will work with financial management within the company, businesses, service providers and other tax professionals with the Arch group. Role includes coordination with outside tax return prepare in the preparation and filing of Arch’s consolidated US corporate federal income tax returns. Assist with the preparation and review of the quarterly tax accrual/provision for US GAAP and US Statutory as well as tax footnote disclosures for financial reporting purposes. Assist with the preparation of all federal estimated tax payments, income tax returns and other returns. Assist with tax projects, planning, ad-hoc research and advice to the business. Participate in the development, documentation, and adoption of company policies and procedures relevant to tax management, including Sarbanes-Oxley Compliance. Manage tax planning issues with outside consultants, as well as with internal departments including legal and finance. Review questions which would affect our compliance with all relevant tax laws. Provide recommendations regarding proper actions. Prepare or reviews quarterly and annual tax account reconciliations .Assist with the design and implementation of US GAAP provisioning software solution. Interact with external auditors, advisers and other stakeholders in relation to US federal income tax matters. Review tax regulation changes affecting the insurance industry and US corporate taxpayers. Provide and manage research on tax questions/issues affecting the company. Liaise with relevant and associated areas and groups within the business process to establish, support and maintain business relationships and organizational effectiveness. BA / BS degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or related field is needed. MBA, MST and/or degree in Taxation JD degree is preferred. Should have 5-7 years of related experience in general corporate accounting, tax and public accounting. CPA certification is required. Insurance Industry experience and state tax experience is required. Mortgage Insurance Industry experience is preferred. Data analysis and data extract skills, including advanced Microsoft Excel skills and use of pivot tables is needed. Understanding of insurance specific tax adjustments is needed. Strong general accounting knowledge and understanding of tax implications on general ledger and financial statement is essential. Excellent written and interpersonal communication skill is needed. Knowledge and experience in the use of accounting system is needed.
