Job Overview:
A prestigious law firm is seeking an entry-level Tax Associate to join their Private Client Practice group in Salt Lake City. This position is ideal for a highly motivated individual with a strong interest in trust and estate planning. The role will involve working closely with high-net-worth individuals to create, draft, and implement sophisticated wealth transfer plans, as well as assisting with complex estate and trust administration matters. This is a great opportunity for a newly graduated attorney to gain valuable experience in tax law, estate planning, and fiduciary administration.

Duties:

  • Create, draft, and implement sophisticated wealth transfer plans for high-net-worth clients.
  • Assist with estate and trust administration, ensuring compliance with applicable laws.
  • Collaborate with senior attorneys and clients on all aspects of trust and estate planning matters.
  • Conduct legal research on tax, trust, and estate issues, and assist in drafting relevant documents.
  • Help resolve complex issues related to estate and trust administration.
  • Maintain a high level of client service and professional communication.
  • Proactively identify issues and recommend solutions in a timely manner.

Requirements:

  • Strong academic background with a focus on tax, trusts, and estates.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Stellar interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with clients and team members.
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented environment while managing multiple tasks.
  • High level of attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Prior experience or a keen interest in trust and estate planning is a plus.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced, high-stress environment.

Education:

  • Juris Doctorate (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Admission to the State Bar (or eligibility to sit for the bar exam in the relevant jurisdiction).
  • An LLM in Taxation or a similar advanced degree is a plus.

Skills:

  • Strong legal research and analytical skills.
  • Proficiency in legal writing, with the ability to draft clear and concise documents.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage a demanding workload.
  • Exceptional organizational and time-management skills.
  • Experience with estate and trust administration is a plus.
  • Proficiency in case management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
