Patent Legal Secretary Candidate will be responsible for completing complex and specialized support functions related primarily to patent prosecution and other patent related matters while working in conjunctions with Firm timekeepers. Will: Manage caseload for a specific client team or attorney group; Detailed knowledge of billing and accounting activities; Detailed knowledge of USPTO e-filing procedures; Detailed knowledge of U.S. patent prosecution requirements. Detailed knowledge in preparing responses to office actions and other USPTO correspondence; Maintain docket of filing deadlines as necessary for work assignment in adherence to established policies and procedures to meet demands of Firm clients and legal staff; As necessary, search appropriate databases for patent technical literature and other pertinent information; Prepare reporting letters to clients and billing, as needed; Updating of status charts, time entry and general filing of all incoming and outgoing documents; Administrative tasks such as opening of new client/matter numbers, submitting conflict checks, travel arrangements, timesheets and expense reports; Respond to inquiries from clients, timekeepers and staff regarding prosecution status and USPTO and/or client specific patent prosecution policies and procedures; and Assist with other duties as assigned.
Qualification and Experience
Requirements: 3+ years of experience in patent prosecution. Previous experience in docket management. Detailed knowledge of USPTO policies and procedures. Strong billing experience highly preferred. Strong computer skills including an advanced knowledge of MS Word and document management knowledge, iManage/Mailsite preferred; some knowledge of MS Excel,PowerPoint and computerized billing preferred. Ability to work in a team-focused environment.
