Risk Manager - Legal Services Duties: Performs various investigations and analyses to evaluate risks in hospital procedures and policies. Ensures compliance at all levels with insurance, benefits, as well as employee and client services. May supervise a team in the risk management department and aid them with paperwork, studies, and preparation and presentation of reports. Educates and trains staff about potential risks. May also work with legal counsel in situations of medical malpractice or worker’s compensation claims. Responsible for the facility’s risk management activities, which includes, a general knowledge of hospital insurance programs, managing claims against the hospital, interfacing with defense legal counsel, administering the risk management program on a day-to day basis, managing and analyzing risk management data, and conducting risk management educational programs, complying with risk management related standards by The Joint Commission with the objective of maintaining patient, and environmental safety, enhancing quality care, and minimizing loss to protect the assets of the hospital.

Qualification and Experience

Qualifications: Preferred: Knowledge of legal claims management, risk mitigation and performance improvement; MHA, JD Degree or Paralegal; 4-8 years' experience risk management and/or safety; Certified Professional in Healthcare Risk Management, HRM certified, Certified Risk Manager, Professional Risk Manager. Ability to prioritize multiple demands. In-depth patient care knowledge; Bachelors with appropriate course work related to Risk Management.
