Scottsdate office seeks associate attorney with 1-3 years of litigation experience. The candidate will be responsible for a wide variety of tasks associated with debt collection. Will provide representation in various legal proceeds and attend court hearings when required. Draft legal pleadings, motions, discovery, stipulations, etc. Write, review, and edit reports, opinions, correspondence, articles, and other documents. Attend court proceedings. Handle caseload and provide analysis and advice on legal and regulatory risks. Interpret laws, rulings and regulations impacting the company and advise the business as appropriate. Provide legal counsel and escalated complaints. Work with the Director of Attorneys to report all activity and results minimum requirements. Background in civil litigation and experience attending court proceedings is required. Should have experience in litigation and collections law. Should also have general corporate/business transaction experience with a mid-sized law firm or large legal department. Must have knowledge of federal, state and local laws. Ability to analyze case law and provide recommendations is required. Advanced knowledge and thorough understanding of bankruptcy and collection law with respect to regulatory requirements is essential. Experience in consumer credit and/or drafting and negotiating complex contracts is considered a plus. Knowledge of FDCPA regulations preferred. Familiarity with CLS is a plus. Should have membership in the State Bar as an attorney qualified to practice law in the state of either MN or AZ. Also licensed WI, IA, NE, or ND (or ability to obtain license in said states) is a plus.
