The MWRA is seeking a Senior Staff Counsel – Labor and Employment. The position includes providing advice and counsel in all areas of federal and state labor and employment law and representing the Authority in state and federal courts and in administrative and arbitration proceedings involving labor and employment matters. The position also includes: researching, analyzing and determining  applicability of federal, state and local laws, regulations, and case law, etc.; preparing and analyzing memoranda, pleadings, motions, briefs, legal documents, claim documents, contract documents, and collective bargaining agreements;  developing and drafting rules, regulations, policies and procedures; reviewing and analyzing legislation; and conducting legal research as required.

The position requires a bachelor’s degree and a Juris Doctorate from an ABA-accredited law school. An understanding of the substantive area of Labor and Employment law acquired by at least three (3) to six (6) years of relevant experience is also required. Massachusetts State and Federal Bar License is required. (State bar admission must be obtained as of date of hire. Federal bar admission must be obtained no later than 6 months after hire.)
