ProfileLegal Support Specialist The candidate performs a wide range and variety of general clerical duties for the Office of State Public Defender, and related work as required. Perform all legal support specialist duties, including drafting motions, filing and distributing the necessary legal papers to the correct people, making and coordinating appointments and hearings between clients and their attorney, substance abuse evaluators and treatment centers, witnesses and investigators. Gather information by asking questions or determine sources for information to accurately assist public, law enforcement, attorneys. Prepare pleadings, contracts, forms, legal memoranda and other documents for criminal cases. Prepare inter-office court schedule. Schedule and track deadlines to move cases forward and meet procedural requirements. Enter pertinent data into designated computer systems/software programs, review and verify data, analyze and summarize transcription. Maintain limited statistical data. Experience in a law office or court preferred. Must have Bachelor's Degree (Typically in Legal Studies/Paralegal). Should have 0-1 year of progressive work experience in (Legal Studies/Paralegal) OR Education & Experience Substitution: 3-4 years of progressive work experience in (Legal Studies/Paralegal).
