Security Counsel, Law Enforcement and Information Security Legal Responsibilities: Oversee the handling of legal processes and requests for user data from government agencies and civil parties, working with teams across. Establish and enforce policies relating to disclosure requests to help advance principles regarding government access to user data and user privacy. Communicate with government agencies and civil parties concerning requirements in particular cases. Provide specialized advice to product teams regarding issues such as encryption, wiretapping, or information security. Work on privacy initiative and support the public policy, legal, and communications team in handling data disclosure issues and questions.
Qualification and Experience
Qualifications: JD degree or equivalent degree. 3 years of attorney experience, including government, in-house and/or at a law firm in data privacy, internal investigations, or cybersecurity. Admitted to the bar and in good standing or otherwise authorized to practice law (e.g., have registered in-house status) in the state in which the position is located. Preferred Qualifications: Experience advising companies on compliance with data privacy laws, regulations, incidents, or cybersecurity legal issues, conducting internal investigations, and on legal mechanisms governing the compelled disclosure of user data by U.S. communication service providers such as the Electronic Communications Privacy Act or state equivalents. Experience as a state or federal prosecutor, public defender, or legal advocate specializing in government access to user data. Experience designing and implementing cross-functional programs and processes to meet legal requirements, including compliance programs. Ability to work collaboratively across a wide range of internal and external stakeholders. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
