Staff Attorney - Level I Duties: Serves as the primary liaison between various business units including sales, operations, management, outside legal counsel, and customer or vendor representatives to coordinate and expedite the contracting process. Provide legal support for internal clients on a variety of complex contractual negotiations. Review, drafting and negotiation of a wide variety of contracts, including customer agreements, transportation provider/vendor agreements, Master Services Agreements, Non-Disclosure Agreements, land, equipment, and software leases and related documents. Assist in maintenance of tracking system for contracts and the development of standard form agreements and implementation of processes and procedures for review and approval of day-to-day business contracts. Assist in training internal clients on contract forms and procedures and act as a company resource for contract questions. Providing legal advice and counsel concerning general law issues for a major freight forwarder/broker, including employment law matters and legal matters that may arise with the company’s subsidiary.

Qualification and Experience

Qualifications: A graduate or bachelor’s degree. JD Degree, current law license (Arkansas preferred). Strong academic background. 2-4 years’ of relevant work experience as a practicing lawyer (in-house, law firm or government) handling complex contract negotiations and transactions. High performing individual with ability to handle complex and challenging assignments with extremely short turnaround deadlines. Strong negotiation skills and ability to build consensus and communicate compelling legal/business justification for position. Must have excellent legal research, verbal and written communication skills and ability to handle complex and challenging assignments. Should have knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Lexis/Nexis research system and other web-based legal research tools. Experience in contract drafting, negotiation. Experience in the transportation or manufacturing industry a plus. Bi-lingual preferred.
