Associate Counsel - Data Security RESPONSIBILITIES: Partner with legal, IT, HR, and other key stakeholders to develop and implement programs for effective data governance, privacy, and information security. Provide advice to business partners on legal risks and obligations under applicable laws and regulations including GDPR, CCPA and other global privacy requirements. Develop internal policies and training to ensure compliance with data protection and privacy requirements in the countries where Qorvo operates. Review and negotiate privacy and data protection agreements and advise on related terms in commercial transactions with vendors and customers. Track developments in relevant consumer protection, privacy, and data security laws and regulations, as well as technological advancements and evolving industry standards to ensure ongoing compliance. Scope and conduct periodic risk assessments and develop plans for remediation. Lead investigations into suspected data loss and privacy incidents, including the applicability of laws and requirements to notify users and regulators about breaches. Engage and manage outside counsel to ensure a timely and cost-effective response to data security matters.
Qualification and ExperienceQUALIFICATIONS: Juris Doctorate degree from accredited law school and licensed to practice law in a U.S. jurisdiction. Should have 5+ years of privacy, data protection, and security experience gained at law firms and/or in-house legal departments, with demonstrated knowledge and understanding of implementing effective data governance programs. Experience negotiating data processing agreements and privacy and data protection terms in a variety of services, licensing and other commercial agreements. Work in semiconductor, electronics, or related technology industries is desired. Basic understanding of the internet, network infrastructure and cyber security technologies as they relate to data protection and governance. Solid knowledge of confidentiality and IP rights agreements involving third parties and company employees. Prior exposure to unique issues raised by government contracts and export control is a plus. Ability to communicate effectively with business and engineering clients to define goals and provide practical advice on legal strategy.
