A law firm seeks an Intellectual Property Associate to join its thriving Patent Prosecution practice in Saint Louis, MO. The role focuses on preparing and prosecuting patent applications, providing strategic patentability and clearance opinions, and managing patent portfolios for a diverse clientele. This position offers a collaborative and supportive work environment with opportunities to contribute to a dynamic Intellectual Property team.

Duties

• Prepare and prosecute patent applications in software, computer science, electrical, or mechanical fields.
• Draft patentability and clearance opinions.
• Provide strategic counsel on patent portfolio management, licensing, and enforcement.
• Manage multiple legal matters simultaneously across various stages of development.
• Deliver high-quality work and meet billable hour requirements to ensure exceptional client service.
• Collaborate with and mentor support staff or junior associates to maintain client satisfaction.
• Build and manage client relationships while identifying business development opportunities.

Requirements

• Minimum of 1 year of experience as a licensed attorney in a law firm environment.
• Experience in patent prosecution, preferably in software, computer science, electrical, or mechanical disciplines.
• Strong attention to detail and effective interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
• Commitment to ethical standards and professionalism.

Education

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
• Preferred: Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical, Computer, or Mechanical Engineering, or Computer Science.

Certifications

• Licensed to practice law and in good standing in at least one jurisdiction where the firm operates.
• Registration with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
