Corporate Counsel - Litigation Responsibilities: Providing high quality and effective legal advice and counsel to legal and business team members on a wide variety of regulatory, litigation, commercial, employment, consumer protection, compliance and litigation-related issues and matters related to the continued growth and expansion of our home service plan business and related offerings. Assisting with responses to regulatory investigations, litigation and other contested matters, including responding to discovery requests, implementing and managing legal holds, and assisting with document reviews and productions. Handling and advising on legal issues pertaining to regulatory inquires. Ensuring compliance with legal requirements and company policies generally applicable to the company business. Working with business teams to create legally compliant approaches that meet the business objectives of new ventures. Willingness to handle other projects and matters as may be assigned from time to time. Working with outside counsel on various legal matters as appropriate.
Qualification and ExperienceQualifications: Degree with 2-4 years of experience, ideally with some regulatory background in service contracts (ideally home service plans) and/or relevant insurance products, but candidates with a general litigation background at a top law firm will be considered. Experience with federal and state law applicable to home service plans and/or service contracts, consumer protection law, consumer and commercial contracts, and complex regulatory environments, is preferred. Experience handling and/or managing state licensure filings with Departments of Insurance and similar regulatory bodies is a plus. Excellent attention to detail. Demonstrated ability to handle and analyze difficult issues in a professional, constructive and proactive manner. Must be tech-savvy and possess a strong willingness to learn. Customer focus and “can do” attitude. Strong issue identification and problem-solving skills. Ability to multi-task with a sense of urgency and ability to meet deadlines within a changing, fast-paced environment. Team player with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
