Trial Resource Unit Legal Assistant, Temporary Part-Time Duties: Review and prepare files. Contact attorneys and provide them with notices of appointment, necessary forms, and request updates on cases. Assist in coordinating meetings, consults, conferences, workshops, and seminars, along with attending these functions if requested. Prepare spreadsheets, capital case lists, and other reports. Publish and update trial calendar. Maintain and update contracts for consultants. Update and maintain trial manual annually. Prepare and distribute new roster packets. Other duties as assigned.

Qualification and Experience

REQUIREMENTS: High school graduation (or high school equivalence certificate) and 3 years of legal clerical experience; or completion of a two-year legal Secretarial Science or Business Administration Associate Degree program and 1 year of responsible legal secretarial experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge of: office management practices and procedures used to organize and maintain the office; court system practices, forms, and procedures to respond to questions as they arise; appropriate General Statutes which relate to the assigned office, to prepare forms and legal documents; and computer software appropriate to the assigned office. Skills in: Microsoft Word and Excel. Ability to: explain office/court policy and procedure/rules to judicial personnel and the public; analyze and interpret information and make necessary decisions with accuracy; transcribe material in prescribed format with a high degree of accuracy using proper grammar, punctuation, and spelling to produce legal documents; work well with others; and to organize and complete work by specific guidelines.
Schedule: 28 hours per week
