Subrogation Associate The candidate manages pending multi-line subrogation claims in multiple states with a caseload of moderate to the highest severity and complexity in coordination with our subrogation vendors. Reviews and evaluates new claims referrals from adjusting staff along with working early triaged referrals to vendors for subrogation potential. Works with the claims staff and outside vendors to ensure the claims examiner addresses any additional necessary actions to determine and preserve subrogation. Reviews prepared demand package to include supporting documents to adverse party(s). Exercises independent judgment and decision-making within assigned authority on settlement of subrogation claims. Communicates with an adverse party(s) for claim resolution and payment. Contacts insured regarding deductible refund when appropriate. Maintains a current diary on all assigned claims. Reviews and responds to subpoenas. Prepares responsive documents, including redactions, to properly served subpoenas. Assists with other projects and tasks as assigned.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate should have an Associate’s in Paralegal Studies or similar required. Equivalent education, experience, and skills may also qualify. Should have 5+ years of subrogation claims handling experience. Relevant insurance certificates, courses, or professional designations are preferred. Should have excellent computer skills and the ability to learn company-specific claims systems, working knowledge of the MS Office Suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook, ability to sit, stand, walk/ambulatory, ability to lift 10 pounds, ability to interact with others in a professional manner.
