Inventory Management Specialist - GS 7 – 9
The candidate serves as an Inventory Manager in the Logistics Service at KCVA Medical Center and supported catchment areas, with responsibility for the inventory management of all expendable supplies and durable medical equipment (DME) in the assigned areas. Conducts data/information analysis for acquisition planning associated with durable medical equipment. Plans and reviews all inventory processes, functions, and related systems. Coordinates with various program managers regarding sources of supply and acceptable solutions. Makes numerous daily contacts with various people to pro-actively plan, coordinate work or advise on efforts. Identifies and rectifies inventory management issues. Makes emergent procurement decisions.

Qualification and Experience

The candidate are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-07 position must have served 52 weeks at the GS-05.
May qualify based on experience and/or education as described below:
Specialized Experience: Must have 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade of the GS-07 level in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include to: managing a variety of expendable items and durable medical equipment; forecasting short and long range inventory needs; analyzing inventory management reports and the effectiveness of various options proposed to provide supply support; utilizing automated inventory management systems to maintain current inventory data; researching and analyzing information to resolve questions and issues, and implementing federal and agency programs for the return and reutilization of medical supplies. OR, Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have successfully completed 1 full year of graduate level education or superior academic achievement that demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of this position. OR,
Combination: Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at this level. You must have an combination of specialized experience and education successfully completed graduate level education (in excess of the first year or 18 semester hours) and specialized experience to meet total experience requirements.
Specialized Experience: Must have 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade of the GS-09 level in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization.
Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: managing a variety of expendable items and durable medical equipment; forecasting short and long range inventory needs; analyzing inventory management reports and the effectiveness of various options proposed to provide supply support; utilizing automated inventory management systems to maintain current inventory data; researching and analyzing information to resolve questions and issues, and implementing federal and agency programs for the return and reutilization of medical supplies. OR, Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have successfully completed a master's degree or equivalent graduate degree or two (2) full years of progressively higher level graduate level education leading to such a degree or LL.B or J.D., OR,
Combination: Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at this level. Must have an combination of specialized experience and education successfully completed one (1) year of graduate level education and specialized experience of six months to meet total experience requirements.
