Announcement number CBBB-10320666-18-AS Control number 512342600 Duties Summary The incumbent of this position will serve in an entry level Clinical Application Coordinator (CAC) position, working directly with the Senior Clinical Application Coordinator (CAC) and other members of the Informatics Service. The incumbent will assist in overall planning, direction, and support of clinical computer applications which cross departmental lines and/or which have hospital wide impact. Responsibilities The Clincal Application Coordinator (CAC) functions both: as a liaison among facility administration, clinical staff, service Automation Data Processing Application Coordinators (ADPAC) and the Office of Information and Technology Service (OI&T) regarding electronic clinical health information at the Health Care System; and is actively involved with peers in the virtual VISN and National CAC teams. The major duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Implements software that have hospital-wide impact and enhances the delivery of patient care. Attend Service Staff meetings virtually and/or in person to identify staff concerns regarding CPRS. Provides consultation to clinical service chiefs in areas of clinical software applications and staff development. Applies VISTA and CPRS knowledge to the following competencies: Productivity Applications, Software Packages (Adverse Reaction, VBECS, ARK, BMS, CAPRI, CIS, EDIS, Dental, Lab, HAS, etc.), Authorization Subscription Utility, Text Integration Utilization, Clinical Procedure functionality, BCMA, clinical reminders, CPRS Parameters and Configurations, CPRS Notifications, CPRS Order Management, Patient List Management, Report Management, Health Summaries, IMed, Lexicon Utility, Patient Care Encounters/Record Flags/Problem lists, VistA Imaging, clinical process orders, order sets, consults, graphical user interface and contingency planning. Consults, advises and educates all levels of employees including the highest levels of management, on methods and means to make health care operations more effective and efficient. Maintains knowledge of changes in technology and clinical environment to identify, propose, formulate and support new or revised major administrative and clinical policies and directives for clinical software packages in accordance with VHA regulations. Promotion Potential: The selectee may be promoted to the full performance level without further competition when all regulatory, qualification, and performance requirements are met. Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-09 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-07. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below: Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-07 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Implement software and/or updates that have hospital-wide impact and enhances the delivery of patient care; Provide consultation to clinical service chiefs in areas of clinical software applications and staff development; consult, advise and educate all levels of employees including the highest levels of management, on methods and means to make health care operations more effective and efficient; Direct experience working with (CPRS) performing entry level Clinical Application Coordinator (CAC) functions, such as assigning User Class, Order Menus, developing Notes, Templates, Consults, Clinical Reminders, knowledge of Health Factors, assist with CPRS training, developing and management of Wards; and Possesses an understanding of clinical treatment modalities, organization and administration of the VA Healthcare delivery systems, educational principles, clinical information systems, accreditation and regulatory standards, and program development. OR, Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have a master's or equivalent degree, 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree (in a related field), or an LL.B. or J.D. related to the position being filled. OR, Combination: Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at this level. Combinations of successfully completed post-high school education and experience may be used to meet total qualification requirements for the GS-09 grade level, and may be computed by first determining the total qualifying experience as a percentage of the experience required for the grade level; then determining the education as a percentage of the education required for the grade level; and then adding the two percentages. The total percentages must equal at least 100 percent to qualify an applicant for that grade level.
