Job Overview:
A law firm is seeking a highly motivated Senior Associate or Counsel to join its nationally recognized Employment & Labor practice. This role requires at least six years of experience, with a strong focus on counseling and defending both single-plaintiff and class/collective actions related to employment matters such as wage and hour issues, harassment, and discrimination. The ideal candidate will also possess excellent legal research skills, a high level of responsibility, and the ability to manage client engagements efficiently.

Location:

Duties:

  • Counsel and defend employers in single-plaintiff employment cases and class/collective actions related to wage and hour issues, discrimination, and harassment.
  • Advise on employment matters including discipline/discharge, restrictive covenants, ADA/FMLA compliance, and general workplace practices.
  • Take and defend depositions, manage written discovery, and draft and argue motions.
  • Draft complex class and collective certification opposition briefs.
  • Draft and review employment agreements, separation agreements, employee handbooks, and other employment-related documents.
  • Conduct legal research and provide strategic advice on employment law issues.
  • Manage multiple client engagements and priorities, maintaining a high degree of responsibility.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in employment law, with significant exposure to both single-plaintiff and class/collective actions.
  • Experience in counseling employers on various employment issues, including wage and hour, discrimination, and harassment.
  • Proficient in drafting complex legal documents, including employment agreements and handbooks.
  • Strong legal research, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Ability to handle depositions, discovery, and legal motions effectively.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (.) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Admitted to the state bar (California preferred).

Skills:

  • Expertise in employment law, including wage and hour and workplace compliance.
  • Strong legal research, drafting, and analytical skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to manage complex legal matters and multiple client engagements.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
