Senior Legal Assistant The candidate will work with attorneys and other practice Legal Support staff on client-billable projects including, but not limited to, cite-checking and/or filing of legal briefs and memorandum; identification and preparation of complex of appendices and exhibits; organization and management of case documents; research; and preparation of court forms and applications. Maintain current knowledge of cite-checking and filing requirements at the Court of International Trade (CIT), the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit (CAFC), the Department of Commerce/International Trade Administration (DOC), and the International Trade Commission (ITC). Prepare documents for filing with courts/agencies, including standardizing formatting, inserting tables of contents and authorities, and ensuring consistency with jurisdiction’s requirements. File documents electronically with courts (PACER/PACER NextGen) and agencies (ACCESS/EDIS). Serve as a primary point of contact for large and complex filings within the practice. Be able to locate and interpret rules and regulations at above-mentioned courts and agencies in order to assist with maintenance of case filing schedules and calendars. Diligently adhere to administrative protective order (APO) requirements, ensure proper redaction of business proprietary information (BPI), and follow internal protocols for safe handling of documents.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate must have bachelor’s degree; must have prior paralegal experience; Experience with anti dumping/countervailing duty proceedings is preferred. Must have high proficiency with cite-checking, blue booking, preparing exhibits and appellate appendices, and electronic filing; Must have ability to communicate professionally and effectively, both in oral and written form; Must have ability to multi-task, prioritize/coordinate deadlines and track progress of tasks; Must have ability to organize work flow and use time efficiently; Must have ability to demonstrate exceptional attention to detail and accuracy; Must maintain confidentiality of work-related information and materials; Must establish and maintain effective working relationships in or out of a team environment, including collaborating and sharing knowledge; Must have strong leadership skills, including the ability to mentor, train and supervise entry level staff.
