# State and Local Tax - Income Franchise Director ## Overview PwC is looking for a Director with expertise in State and Local Tax (SALT) to join our Income Franchise practice. As a Director, you will help our clients solve their business issues related to business restructuring, adoption of new tax laws, and communicating local tax developments. You will assess our client’s state and local tax burden and recommend solutions that support their overall business objectives to ensure their filing positions are consistent with good business practices and with the states applicable tax laws and rules. Additionally, you will develop strategies for our clients to stay ahead of and manage state and local tax burdens and to identify opportunities that result from evolving changes in legislation and administrative policy changes. ## Responsibilities As a Director, you will: - Disrupt, improve and evolve ways of working when necessary - Sponsor appropriate assignments and experiences to help people realise their potential and support their long-term aspirations - Identify gaps in the market and spot opportunities to create value propositions - Look for opportunities to scale efficiencies and new ways of working across multiple projects and environments - Create an environment where people and technology thrive together to accomplish more than they could apart - Promote and encourage others to value difference when working in diverse teams - Take ownership for developing connections that help deliver what is best for our people and stakeholders - Facilitate the creation of long-term relationships which add value to the firm - Uphold the firm's code of ethics and business conduct ## Requirements - Bachelor’s degree in Accounting - 6+ years of experience - CPA or Member of the Bar - Master’s degree in Taxation preferred - Demonstrates thought leader level knowledge of a variety of state and local tax laws, including multi-state income tax planning, compliance, preparing returns, income tax accounting, controversies, restructuring, due diligence and audit defense - Demonstrates thought leader level technical skills, including FAS 109, unitary filing, apportionment methodologies, tax base rules, tax research, compliance and consulting as it relates to multi-state jurisdictions - Ability to develop and sustain deep client relationships using networking, negotiation and persuasion skills to identify and sell potential new service opportunities - Ability to prepare and present complex written and verbal materials, and define resource requirements, project workflow, budgets, billing and collection - Ability to lead teams to generate a vision, establish direction and motivate members, create an atmosphere of trust, leverage diverse views, coach staff, and encourage improvement and innovation - Proven record of success as a tax technical team leader generating new business, proposal writing and delivery, collaborating across engagements and business units - Experience utilizing a CRM system in a professional services firm to network, develop relationships and sell additional/new services - Experience utilizing automation & digitization in a professional services environment - Experience evaluating and negotiating new and existing contracts, as well as leveraging pricing tools to contribute to pricing strategies ## Salary For positions based in Albany (NY), California, Colorado, Nevada, New York City, Washington State, or Westchester County (NY), please visit the following link for pay range information: https://pwc.to/payrange-v1-taxdirector

Qualification and Experience
