ProfileStaff Immigration Attorney Duties: Maintain a significant independent caseload and will report directly to the Legal Director. Focus on family-based matters and will primarily represent clients before USCIS. Tasks will include meeting with clients, completing applications, attending interviews, and responding to government requests for evidence. The bulk of the caseload would consist of adjustment of status, TPS, consular processing and naturalization matters. Will be asked to help in the mentorship and supervision of members, interns and volunteers as needed. Will conduct outreach and community education to ensure access to services for underserved communities throughout Southeastern Massachusetts. Communicate and correspond with clients and other advocates in Spanish as well as in English. Will be expected to translate documents as needed.
Qualification and Experience
Qualifications: Must be admitted to state Bar (Massachusetts preferred). (An highly-experienced non-lawyer may also be considered). Fluency in written and spoken Spanish required. Must be well organized. Must exhibit cultural competency and respect for all. Must have strong analytical skills. Must exhibit ability to pay close attention to details. Must demonstrate ability to take initiative, work independently and in a busy collaborative environment. Must have strong understanding of, and commitment to, client confidentiality. Must have strong communication and interpersonal skills. Enthusiasm and commitment to serving low-income immigrant communities required. Preferred: Previous experience in community non-profit preferred. Previous experience in providing immigration legal services preferred. Additional language competency beyond Spanish and English would make for a particularly strong candidate.
