Assistant United States Attorney The candidate will be responsible for primarily handling immigration cases. Will be responsible for coordinating the District's high volume immigration practice including representing the US, its agencies and employees in responses to habeas petitions, mandamus petitions, complaints under the Administrative Procedures Act, and other immigration related matters. Handle all aspects of the litigation, including discovery, arguments, alternative dispute resolution, pretrial matters, and bond hearings. Must have a J.D. degree from a law school approved by the ABA, be an active member of the Bar (any US jurisdiction), and have 3+ years of post-J.D. legal or other relevant experience. Should preferably have substantial experience in handling civil immigration cases and have experience with complex legal issues. Should have experience in taking or defending depositions and conducting witness interviews. Post-JD experience in the federal system is desirable. Will conduct own legal research and writing and be substantially self-sufficient in preparing day-to-day correspondence and pleadings. Travel will be required, primarily within the Middle District of Pennsylvania (33-county area) with occasional trips to other districts, as well as to the National Advocacy Center in Columbia, South Carolina for training and conferences.
